The family love for basket-
ball has continued in a third
generation. Rothstein's son,
David, "did well" for the Holy
Cross junior varsity team.
"He had a back injury that
limited him to three games at
the end of the season," Ron
explained. "But he played
very well in those games, and
in the Maccabiah Games try-
outs. But he couldn't make
the final try-outs because of
school.
"He has a good chance to be
a back-up point guard on
Holy Cross' varsity next
year." ❑

Burros are genet:all) thought of as beasts of
burden. But no beast should have to bear the burden
Milton did.
He was adopted more than a year ago under a
Rderal program to sa‘e wild burros from being slaugh-
tered by western ranchers. Ironit.-ally. Milton would
have been safer in the wild than in the hands of a farmer
who treated him worse than a piece of farm equipment.
On Rbruar) 25. in n..sponse to a neighbor's call.
Michigan Humane Society imesttgators found Milton.
He was standing in over 14 inch, of his own excrement
with homes so mererown he could barely walk. Milton
weighed less than half of what a healthy adult burro
should weigh. Doctors worked desperate to ad-
minister emergeno care. But the attention came

too late. Friw days after his n.ssette and just three days
after this photo was taken. Milton died. Veterinarians
called tt the worst case of abuse they had eser seen.
We call it barbaric.

tougher prosecution of animal abuse. .And now. dunn,
