he Michigan Chapter National Foundation for
Ileitis and Colitis (NFIC) recently held "It's
In the Bag" fashion show at Southfield
Manor. Approximately 400 women previewed
the fashions from Jacobson's.
Carol Roberts, luncheon chairman, introduced
chapter president Howard Young. Young presented the
Irving Simon Memorial Plaque to Dorothy Simon, wife
of Irving Simon, for her work as benefactor for NFIC.
Lt. Governor Martha Griffiths received the Woman of
Distinction Award for her continued support. All
honorees stressed the importance of finding a cure for
ileitis (Crohn's disease) and ulcerative colitis, which
afflicts children and adults.
The "It's In The Bag" theme carried over to the
luncheon. Guests were served bag lunches as models
opened the show in colorful silk dresses, adding
accessories from shopping bags from Jacobson's.
Fashions from the latest designers highlighted the
show. The DKNY look from Donna Karan was sporty
clothes with oxford cloth body suits, silk blazers and
jeans. "Master of print" Ungaro showed floral suits and
polka dot suits in bright colors. Sonia Rykiel, now
exclusively at Jacobson's, included black and red or
navy and white knit outfits.
From Chanel, outfits and accessories with gold
chains and gold buttons were dominant. For evening,
Ungaro created a black organza dress with ruffles and
a matching jacket. Equally dramatic was a white
column evening gown by Carolina Herrera in silk
crepe. ❑
