New York (JTA) — An anti-
discrimination law passed by
the Argentine Congress last
August has been invoked for
the first time in a case of
serious concern to Argentine
Jews, according to the Latin
American Report, published
by the Anti-Defamation
League of B'nai B'rith.
The case involved an adver-
tisement in the daily La Na-
cion eulogizing the late Josef
Goebbels, the Nazi propagan-
da minister, on what would
have been his 91st birthday.
Sydney Jarkow, chairman of
the ADL's Jarkow Institute
for Latin America, praised
Argentine Attorney General
Luis Moreno Campo's deci-
sion to investigate and pro-
secute the parties responsible,
under the anti-discrimination
law.
The law, adopted with little
dissent in August by both
houses of Congress, was a
landmark for Argentina. It
provides prison sentences of
one month to three years for
anyone practicing or pro-
moting any form discrimina-
tion for reasons of race, creed,
sex or national origin,
whether as an individual or
member of a group.

Terrorist Boat
Sunk By Israel

Tel Aviv (JTA) — A gang of
seaborne terrorists en route
to a planned landing and at-
tack in Israel were drowned
last week when their rubber
dinghy was shot and sunk
north of the Rosh Hanikra
border between Lebanon and
Israel.
The boat was believed to
have been carrying two ter-
rorists when it was discovered
by a naval patrol vessel of the
Israel Defense Force. The IDF
vessel, on a routine patrol at
the time of the sighting, open-
ed fire on the dinghy and
sank it.
But sources from the
United Nations Interim
Forces in Lebanon, at its
nearby headquarters at
Nakoura, reported that four
terrorists had been aboard
the dinghy, including one
woman.
The terrorists, believed to
be led by the Popular Strug-
gle Front of the Syrian-
backed Popular Front, claim-
ed the operation had been
carried out by its members
who were planning to attack
an unidentified Israeli town.
The Popular Struggle
Front, led by Samir Gosheh,
is a small, pro-Syrian group.
