The Michigan Humane Society (MHS) has several events planned in recognition of national Be Kind to Animals Week, May 7-13. The week will be kicked off 1:30 p.m. May 7 with the 6th Annual Rosey Mutt Derby at the State Fair Coliseum. There is a charge. "The Animals Film," a documentary about animal protection issues, will be shown 7 p.m. May 12 at the Hyatt Regency in Dearborn. This film is not recommend- ed for children under 13. On May 13, the MHS will hold its annual meeting at the Hyatt Regency in Dear- born. The featured speaker is Michael O'Sullivan, Cana- dian coordinator for the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA), who will ad- dress the issue of furs. At 11 a.m. May 14, the MHS North Shelter will host an open house. The MHS will have a display at Northland Mall May 12-14.
