Abie Nathan, who accepts
and airs paid advertising has
been skirting some legal pro-
blems, but the authorities
show little inclination to
move against him. Channel
Seven has now begun an-
nouncing openings for adver-
tising salesmen, which shows
where they are heading.
That part of the public here
which likes the kind of music
Channel Seven offers is
awaiting the more serious
part of the broadcasts. The
Rebbetzin again: "Israel radio
is all noise and tension and
conflict. We think the public
wants something more
soothing, and more to support
the national morale. We shall
not be pessimistic and we
shall not attack others. Some
may consider us naive and in-
nocent, but we like to think of
Israel the way it was in the
good old days. There are many
beautiful things taking place
here today."
The day's program ends
after the 9 p.m. news: "And so
we conclude our broadcast for
today on Channel Seven. God
willing, we'll be back with you
again at 7 in the morning."E

Tel Aviv (JTA) — The army
last week introduced new
means for dispersing riots in
the territories during a
weekend security conference
for unit commanders in the
Gaza Strip.
The new means include a
small glider plane that can
locate riot sites and hover
over them, providing reports
to the security forces, and gas
rockets that can be operated
from a moving vehicle.
The Israel Defense Force is
also reported to be examining
the possibility of purchasing
a multipurpose, hard plastic
club for use by military forces
in the territories.
The club, used by the ter-
rorist warfare unit of the West
German police, which has a
small lamp attached to one
side, can be used as a
flashlight, enabling soldiers
to use it at night.
On its other side, a short
knife can be unsheathed. At
the center of the club is a car-
rying handle topped by a steel
cap for use in smashing win-
dows, doors and suspicious
vehicles.
