community festivals.
In response, the federation
argues that it turned down
Kach under the terms of its
policy calling for the exclu-
sion of all political parties
from the festivals.
Kach is led by Knesset
member Rabbi Meir Kahane,
whose ultra right-wing plat-
form advocates the. "transfer"
of all Arabs from Israel to
neighboring Arab countries.
Attorney Barry Fisher,
representing Kach, said that
he is seeking an injunction to
force the federation to permit
Kach booths at the April 9
and June 4 Jewish communi-
ty festivals.
"Participants at these
festivals read like a phone
listing of Jewish organiza-
tions — gay, left, Orthodox,"
Fisher said. "If the federation
starts by excluding one group
disliked by many, other
groups will be banned next
time." Fisher also questioned
whether the claimed federa-
tion policy actually exists.
Federation spokesman Ron
Rieder said that to his
knowledge the Kach suit is
the first of its kind against
the federation, which is now
formulating a response to the
complaint.
The opposing sides will
argue their cases in Superior
Court on April 6.

issued its second edition of
Days of Remembrance, a
guide to assist the U.S. Armed
Forces in organizing Holo-
caust educational programs
and ceremonies for its five
million members.
The 144-page book was pro-
duced with the assistance of
the International Center for
Holocaust Studies of the Anti-
Defamation League of B'nai
B'rith and the U.S. Holocaust
Memorial Council.

Museum Sets
$40 Million Goal

New York (JTA) — The
Jewish Museum in the midst
of a fiscal campaign to help
expand its existing facilities
to almost double in size, has
in three months raised over
one-third of its $40 million
campaign goal.
The expansion, anticipated
to begin in late 1990 and be
completed 18 months later,
will add almost 30,000 square
feet of space, creating
classrooms and a restaurant.
