A Sustained Vision annual- ly recognizes a particular philosophy and creative work process developed by an artist through the exploration and extension of his or her chosen medium. McGee has won a major national competition for a commissioned wall relief for East Lansing City Hall, to be completed by July 1989. Cocktails and hors d'oeuvres will be served and a McGee special color catalogue will be issued. The gallery will also offer a Passover table for those guests wishing to attend, but who are observing the Passover holiday. McGee will offer a gallery talk about his current work to the public, with no admission charge on April 29 at 2 p.m. at Detroit Focus. The McGee exhibit runs through May 20. 'Art In Park' Festival Set The Oak Park Chamber of Commerce will present its fourth annual "Art in the Park" fair on July 4. - About 70 exhibitors will display pottery, jewelry, stained glass, dried flowers and wooden folk art. The art fair occurs on the last day of "Funfest '89." There also will be pony rides, band concerts and games. "Art in the Park" will be held at the David Shepherd Park, Oak Park, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 4. For informa- tion, call the Oak Park Chamber of Commerce, 547-4000. Artist Slides Are Sought Detroit Focus is accepting slides from Michigan artists working in all media in an- ticipation of the exhibition From Artists Studios: Cur- rent Work. Student Art Is Exhibited The eighth annual Congres- sional Art Competition for high school students, co- ordinated and conducted by members of the U.S. House of Representatives in their districts, will have an exhibi- tion of the entries at the Southfield Civic Center Gallery May 12-21. Hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. Congressman Sander Levin will host the reception for students, teachers, family and friends on May 21 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the gallery.
