Lee got one of his first jobs with the help of comedian Lenny Bruce's mother. wife's and mother-in-law's pic- ture on a carton of milk!" He even explains the rather unique origin of his first name: "I was born in England so my mother named me after the city of my birth. Thank God I wasn't born in Elizabeth, N.J." Before Lee steps out on the stage today, he is introduced as the "poor little rich kid who's all grown up." And, as a grownup, Lee admits he would do things differently if he had the chance. "As I look back today," he says, "I wish I had given more to my father. I gave as much as I thought I could when I was a kid, but now I wish I had given even more. Today I understand things that I didn't understand years ago. I was just too young. Back then I was in another world. My career was swinging but Lon- don Lee the man was not. In those days London Lee was just a little boy." He also regrets the fact that his father didn't live long enough to see the tremendous growth and maturing process of his only son. "Today," he notes, "London Lee is a man. And if I'm lucky enough and if I work hard enough, which is what I'm do- ing now to get back to where I was, I won't mess up. I understand. Yes, I really udnerstand now what it's all about."For the future, Lee has one specific goal, and that's to continue to work harder and harder to rebuild his career. "As long as I can walk out on a stage and words come out of my mouth, I will entertain people. Happiness for me, right now, is performing and giving. I think that's the big- gest pay back in life and even though the climb back up may be tough, I'm loving every single minute of it." 0 Cancer Fund Hosts Festival American Cancer Society's Young Professionals an- nounce a "Rio-Festivale" will take place Thursday at 7 p.m. • at the Embassy Suites Hotel, Southfield.
