For Dragons, Harnick wrote book, lyrics and music, which may surprise those who aren't aware he is also a composer with a bachelor's degree in music from Northwestern University. Dr. John J. Mames, chair- man, department of oral history and Holocaust studies, will pay tribute to the Righteous Gentiles. This year Dr. Jan Karski will be the recipient of "The Righteous Among the Nations of the World Award" for "displaying humanitarian, compas- sionate concern for others during the era of raging Nazi terror and for his desperate efforts to save remnants of the European Jews from gas chambers and from imple- mentation of Hitler's Final Solution." A Roman Catholic, Karski was the first person in 1943 to bring the horrors of Hitler's Final Solution to the atten- tion of Western leaders. After the war Karski refus- ed to return to his native Poland and in 1954 became an American citizen. In 1952, he received his Ph.D. degree at Georgetown University and has been teaching Eastern guropean affairs, comparative government and international affairs.
