Concert Set
In Oak Park
Both classical and popular
music will be featured when
the Oak Park Chamber
Ensemble performs in the
Oak Park Library on Sunday
at 7:30 p.m. It will be preced-
ed by a social hour honoring
the musicians. Both the
reception and the concert are
free of charge to the public.
The program will include
"Summer" from the "Four
Seasons" by Vivaldi; "Diver-
timento in B Flat" by Mozart;
"Memory" from Cats by Web-
ber; "Begin the Beguine" by
Porter; "Sophisticated Lady"
by Elington; and "Humores-
que" by Dvorak.
Members of the ensemble
are: John Ronai, violin;
Naomi Levine, cello; Bill
Volke, viola; and Linda Trot-
ter, violin.
DSO Group
Sets Concerts
DSO's Overtures will have
two spring events for metro-
Detroiters aged "20-some-
thing/30-something." The
evenings offer music, food and
a chance to -meet young pro-
fessionals interested in music.
On Saturday, Overtures
will begin at Ford Auditorium
with the DSO's performance
of music by Mozart, Stravin-
sky and lbhaikovsky. After
the concert, the group moves
to the Renaissance Club's St.
Clair Room for a dessert
buffet.
On May 20, Overtures
gathers for a pre-concert buf-
fet on the Millender Center's
rooftop. The DSO's French
horn section stars along with
violinist Midori in an evening
of music by Schumann, Bruch
and Sibelius at Ford
Auditorium.

Quartet, Pianist
To Perform
The Lafayette String -
Quartet and pianist Flavio
Varani will perform together
at 7:30 p.m. April 23 and Or-
chestra Hall.
The quartet will open the
program with Mozart's
"Quartet in C Major" ("Disso-
nant") followed' by
Shostakovich's "Quartet in c
minor, Op. 110."
Varani will join the quartet
for the final selection,
Brahms' "Piano Quintet in f
minor, Op. 34."
