Congregation B'nai David
will host its second annual
Gala Cantorial Concert
7;30 p.m. May 4.
The program of cantorial,
Hebrew, Yiddish, operatic
arias and duets will feature
Cantor Stuart Friedman and
Cantor Emeritus Hyman
Adler of Congregation B'nai
David, and guest Cantors
Abraham Denburg of
Baltimore, Md.; Alberto
Mizrahi of Cleveland Heights,
Ohio; and Max Shimansky of
Congregation Beth Achim in
Southfield. They will be ac-
companied by pianist Cantor
Sholom Kalib.
Cantor Denburg, born and
raised in Montreal, is a
graduate of the School of
Sacred Music in New York.
He has studied operatic and
oratorio roles. His repetoire
includes Jewish liturgical
music, folk songs, art songs,
operatic arias, and Broadway
classics. He has served as
Cantor of Beth Tfiloh Con-
gregation in Baltimore for
the past 25 years. He has per-
formed extensively through-
out the United States and
Canada.
Cantor Mizrahi, born in
Greece, is a graduate of the
Hebrew Academy of
Cleveland, the Hebrew
Theological College in
Skokie, Ill., and the Cantor's
Institute of the Jewish
Theological Seminary. He
studied with Cantors David
Cantor Shimansky
Cantor Adler
.Cantor Mizrahi
Cantor Denburg
Kussevitsky and Moshe Gan-
choff. Cantor Mizrahi serves
as hazzan of Park Synagogue
in Cleveland Heights, Ohio.
Cantor Shimansky, born in
New York, attended Hunter
and Brooklyn colleges and is
a graduate of the Cantorial
Training Institute of Yeshiva
University. He has appeared
in concerts in synagogues
throughout the United
States.
