Detroit Federation of Reform
Synagogues at 8 p.m. April
21.
Services at all other Reform
congregations have been
cancelled that night.
Following the Shabbat ser-
vice, the sermon will be a
panel discussion, "Seven Rab-
bis — A Sermon in Thirty
Minutes — Can They Do It?"
moderated by WJR radio per-
sonality and Temple Israel
member, Warren Pierce.
Pierce is a native Detroiter
who attended the University
of Michigan and Wayne State
University, earning a

science. His radio show "Mid-
Day Magazine" has become a
forum to question experts in
such subjects as money-
management, health, paren-
ting and diet.
Members of the community
choir, composed of choirs from
local Reform congregations,
also will participate in the
service.
Isaac Mayer Wise Sabbath
pays tribute to the founder of
Reform Judaism in North
America. Born in Bohemia,
Rabbi Wise came to the
United States in 1846 and
spent his life trying to form a
cohesive Jewish community
here.

Plans Events

Temple Beth El Brother-
hood will sponsor an inter-
congregational breakfast for
the Jewish Chautauqua
Society 9:30 a.m. April 23 at
the temple.
The Jewish Chautauqua
Society is dedicated to
fighting anti-Semitism by
sponsoring lectures, seminars
and presentations at colleges
and secondary schools.
There is no charge for the
breakfast; the public is
invited.
The temple's brotherhood
will sponsor a Passover
workshop and breakfast 9:30
a.m. Sunday. Rabbi Polish
will speak at 10 a.m. There is
a charge.

Temple Hosts
String Quartet

The Vivace Committee of
the Birmingham Temple will
present the New World String
Quartet in its fourth ap-
pearance at the temple
7:30 p.m. Sunday.
An informal pre-concert
briefing, with musical ex-
amples from the works to be
performed, will be held at
6:45 p.m. Arthur Rose and
David Kreger will be hosts.

Exciting Seders
Focus Of Talk

Rabbi Allan Meyerowitz of
Congregation B'nai Moshe
will present "How To Conduct
an Exciting Passover Seder"
10 a.m. Sunday at the
Synagogue.
The workshop is for ex-
perienced seder leaders as
well as those who will be con-
ducting a seder for the first
time. It is open to members
and non-members at no
charge. Reservations may be
made through the synagogue
office, 548-9000.
