They are Bernice Gershen- son and Norman and Sylvia Gershenson-Sloman. The award will be presented April 29 at the foundation's annual Crystal Rose Ball, in recognition of individual ef- forts to raise the quality of life for persons facing a life- threatening illness. This year marks the foundation's fourth annual event, which raises funds for the patient care pro- grams for Hospice of Southeastern Michigan. In 1986, Harper Hospital announced the dedication of the Gershenson. Families Radiation Oncology Center, on the occasion of a gift of $2.5 million from Mrs. Ger- shenson and Mrs. Gershenson-Sloman. Among her affiliations, Mrs. Gershenson-Sloman is a board member of the Temple Beth El Sisterhood and a member of the board of the Brandeis University National Women's Committee. Mrs. Gershenson is a vice presi- dent of the women's commit- tee of United Community Services, on the executive committee of the United Foundation and a board member of the Michigan Opera Theater and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Alzheimer's Aid Offered Alzheimer's Association- Detroit Area Chapter has developed a respite program for families who have a member afflicted with Alzheimer's disease or related disorder. The program provides an in-home volunteer and an adult day care program where volunteers work with clients in a group setting in a day care facility.
