MCF brunch at the Boca
Beach Club.
18 MONTHS AGO, Jacqui
Ridley and Gail Jacob started
with one oven at a Madison
Heights caterer . . . with lit-
tle money, but dreams and a
product they considered
among the best . . . After
some fine press from local
papers and response from
customers, the business
started to grow fast . . . The
girls moved from one pizzeria
to another, renting their
ovens and using them in the
early morning hours to bake
breads and muffins . . . Soon
their wholesale business grew
to over 50 accounts and the
lassies knew it was time to
find a home.
Feb. 1 was opening of new
Ridley's retail bakeshop in
Troy, with four tables . . . It is
where Jacqui and Gail have
become the oat bran head-
quarters, baking gourmet oat
bran muffins and cookies .. .
plus grain breads (made
without fat, sugar or eggs), an
assortment of sweet muffins,
croissants, soups, gourmet
coffees and cappucino . . .
Plus this they have introduc-
ed bread and muffin baskets
delivered fresh for all
occasions.
It is interesting to note that
much of their food is prepared
with nutra-clear Canola oil,
no cholesterol, no additives,
94 percent fat free . . . Canola
oil has at least 50 percent less
saturated fat than other
commonly-used oils . . . it is a
vegetable oil.
NIGHT SOCIETY Or-
chestra, talented 10-piece
band from Bay City, will be at
Southfield's Concerts-In-The-
Garden, April 16, at
Michigan Inn.
The group recalls dancing
music of Ginger Rogers and
Fred Astaire, Harry James'
"Two O'Clock Jump," dancing
to the strains of Glenn Miller
or Tommy Dorsey from the
'40s or "The Girl From
Ipanema" from the '60s .. .
They'll also play the music
of Duke Ellington, Count
Basie, Benny Goodman, Mo-
town, etc. . . . The Night
Society Orchestra guides its
audience along a unique and
timeless musical odyssey of
listening and dancing to lush
romantic ballads, big band
swing or rock 'n roll classics.
Concert and full brunch
catered by the hotel are $9;
concert and coffee only, $3.50
. . . Brunch is 11 a.m. and
the concert and dancing at
11:30 a.m.
For reservations and infor-
mation, call Southfield's
Parks and Recreation Dept.,
354-4717.
