ADL Leaders
Meet Bush
Four Detroit Jewish com-
munity leaders were among
more than 200 from across
the nation who heard Presi-
dent George Bush pledge that
his administration will
relentlessly fight against
anti-Semitism in this country.
The president gave this
assurance to participants in
the 11th annual National
Leadership Conference of the
Anti-Defamation League of
B'nai B'rith in Washington,
D.C.
The Detroit ADL par-
ticipants were: Robert J. Gor-
don, Fran Gross, Linda Sober-
man and Michael Traison.
The President, citing the
annual ADL national survey
of anti-Semitic incidents
which showed an increase in
1988, said he would use the
"bully pulpit" of the
Presidency to oppose anti-
Semitism "unequivocally and
without exception."

served in key state posts for

Commission and as deputy
commissioner of insurance.
He is chairman of the board
of trustees of Michigan State
University. Owen was mayor
of East Lansing from 1979 to
