Broadway Poets
Program Due

The Oak Park Arts and
Cultural Commission will
present a program, "Broad-
way Poets;' featuring the
lyrics of Cole Porter and
Stephen Sondheim at 7:30
p.m. Sunday at the Oak Park
Library Theater. Admission is
free.
The program, conceived and
prepared by Harriet Welton
Arnowitz, will contrast songs
on similar themes by each
composer. Recorded music of
both will be played before and
after the performance.
Reading the lyrics will be
N. Paul Silverman and Mrs.
Arnowitz, who have perform-
ed together at the library
previously in "A Program of
Story-Telling for Adults."
An arts and cultural com-
missioner, Silverman has
been teaching in the Oak
Park School District since
1964. "Broadway Poets"
marks Dr. Silverman's fifth
appearance at the library. In
addition to being drama
coach at Oak Park High
School, he recently appeared
4
in the Michigan-made film,
The Carrier. He has also been
in many TV commercials. _
Arnowitz has been a
member of the arts and
cultural commission since its
inception in 1976. She has 0, 4
served as president and vice
president and has been in-
volved in community ac-
tivities for many years. She
has written, directed and per-
formed in two political
satirical plays and has per-
formed with the Nash Players
and numerous amateur
theatricals.
