brittle lashes: swab on baby oil
before bedtime.
Secrets of a Power Brow from
Brooke Shields: Wet brows, apply
an eyebrow sealer, use a clean
mascara brush or toothbrush to coax
brows into desired shape. No-flake
hair gel is a good alternative if you
have no sealer. To perk up a pale
brow, just brush on powdered eye
shadow or mascara several shades
darker than your usual and apply
sealer for 24 hour keeping power.
Kim Bassinger's hint for
avoiding the hazards of mascara
have lashes permanently dyed by a
licensed beautician recommended
by your optician or local medical
society.
Prevent the aging of the eyes
with these A.M. eye rotations from
Debbie Reynolds: Move eyes all
the way to the right, to the left and
then straight up as high as you can
see. Then down, rest and then rotate
diagonally, left and right, up to down
and down to up. Then slowly rotate
eyes in circles. This strengthens the
six extraocular muscles that
surround the eye.
Cross-eyed? Darkening the
outer half of the upper lids brings
eyes closer together says Lauren
Hutton. A second trick from cross-
eyed celeb Joan Van Ark: use off-
white shadow on lids, then mascara
on upper lashes only.
Cybil Shepard's list of eye
makeup mistakes every working
woman should avoid: wearing
several layers of mascara or "falsies";
metallic or iridescent eye shadow;
wearing any non-neutral shade of
mascara (purple, green, gold, etc.).
Lily Tomlin's hints for eyes:
apply two coats of mascara to top
and bottom lashes, combing it
through between coats to prevent
clumping; and buy a top-of-the-line
eyeliner. Best bet: the Chanel eye
pencil. Cosmeticians say it produces
the richest, most consistent color.
"reverse
Mia Farrow's
technique" for perfectly lined eyes:
pull outer upper lid corners gently
toward temples. For easier line
control pencil in a thick-to-thin
tapered line toward the inner
