different. D'Alto is Chaldean and
Linda is Jewish.
As vice president of the the
Anti-Defamation League of B'nai
Brith in the Detroit area, Soberman
says, "We talk about a Jewish
outreach to the Chaldean
community."
Both belong to Fashion Group
and D'Alto is secretary and on the
program committee of that
organization. She is also a founder
and member of the executive
committee of Liberty Bidco Inc., a
women-owned and operated finan-
cial institution and a member of the
Founders Junior Council of the
Detroit Institute of Arts.
Their business collaboration
has provided a wonderful learning
experience. From D'Alto, Soberman
has "learned to think beyond art-fair
mentality to New York," where their
merchandise is displayed in
Fragments showroom and the West
Coast, where Parallel Lines in Los
Angeles is their showroom.
D'Alto is highly aware of the
value of celebrity endorsement and
sends earrings to people like Ivana
Trump and Oprah Winfrey, who
wrote a thank-you note for the
"great" present and wore them on
her show. Mari D'Alto and Linda
Soberman also see no harm in
sharing the fact that singer Aretha
Franklin, who has nothing but
R-E-S-P-E-C-T for creative art, was
seen buying seven pairs of their
earrings and was spotted wearing a
pair on "Entertainment Tonight."

Breton Red

reton red steps into the head-
lines as the color news of the
season. Rooted in the
tradition of Brittany, it's a wardrobe
neutral that exercises elegance in
both solids and prints. Bold color
statements play color on color.
Breton red appears in relaxed
jackets, skirts and trousers, as well
as in soft suits.
Looking for an alternative to
jackets? Don a vest!
