makeup. But all elements coordinate

Hair Highlights:
• New softness — soft waves
and curls, to complement flowing
fashions.
• Hair is worn sleek and
sophisticated.
• The classic bob has a renewed
appeal.
• Hair parts are in evidence in
the middle and on the sides.
• Long hair sweeps up in high
and low ponytails, buns, French
twists and 1940s "rolled" hairstyles.
• Bangs are slightly uneven and
purposely fringed for slick-back
options.
• Short hair is more rounded
and forward, with the front longer
for upsweeping or sleeking back.
• Color emphasis is on shine,
with color-perming emerging as a
"natural" way to go . . . adding
color and depth to enhance the
perm without chemicals.
• Brassy, gold highlights are out;
soft beige and champagne is in.
• Fingerwaving is back for soft,
delicate under-the-drier waves.
Makeup Palette:
• Liquid eyeliner is used on the
top lid only.
• Lower eyelid is gently
penciled in muted tones, then
smudged with matte shadow of the
same tone.
• Blush is minimal, with gentle
contouring if needed.
• Eyeshadow is monochroma-
tic with one shade complementing
the eyes' natural color. Colors like
grey, mocha, plum, khaki, peach and
cinnamon add to the muted but
elegant palette.
• Mascara is royal blue, navy or
black.
• Lips are well defined, made
