MONDAYS TRU SATURDAYS 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
All rooms have VCRs and if
people want to see a movie,
there's whatever is desired in
the lobby . . . Each room has
its own safe hidden and bolted
to the floor, marble bathroom,
hairdryer that is not attach-
ed to the wall, huge mirrors,
telephones and scales in the
bathroom, bathrobes, three
different types of soap and
other features . . . The ex-
ecutive suites also have
Jacuzzi tubs plus a glassed-in
shower.
Behind the front desk at
Townsend Hotel is Tony
Brown's personal collection
of antique books that per-
haps gives an insight into
the dramatic elegance of
serenity surrounding an
intermingling of the old and
the new to present the Town-
send Hotel . . . a true Bir-
mingham pride.
A PARTNER'S love and
heart-warmth shines through
for Morey Mertz, who has
been a partner with Morris
Weiss since 1969 at Zeman's
Bakeries on Greenfield and
Southfield . . . Previously, for
seven years, he had been
foreman for Morris at Weiss
Bakery, Seven Mile and
Forrer.
Morey joins wife Sheila and
so many people in wishing
Morris much happiness on
receiving an award from
Young Israel of Southfield,
May 7, for his many
achievements in community
service.

Leah Marks? . . . Is it because
she was an Israeli im-
migrant? . . . Or the deter-

what she does?
Whatever, the almost 700
women at St. Helen's Philop-
tochus Society's 31st annual
"Fashion Magic" dinner pro-
bably witnessed what might
be Leah's finest fashion show
production . . . This is said
because with each production
. . . and they truly are authen-
tic productions with much
professionalism . . . the shows
seem to get better . . . Mer-
chants showing their wares
truly appreciate this profes-
sionalism . . . and attendees
enjoy presentations all the
more.
If the drive is because of a
determination to be the best,
Leah isn't far off . . . I don't
know who is, but they sure
have to be something special
to beat her productions.
This one opened with six
Greek village dancers in col-
orful costumes . . . Then An-
drew Crawford danced as a
sheik whose Arabian Nights
