And I think of him when I
write it. And he's the judge. If
my wife doesn't like it, it
hurts my ego but I know it
doesn't matter. It's more
Judge Fagenson, as I call
him."
Their only problem to date,
says Fagenson, has been
when business people have
tried to tamper with the
creative "essence" of the
band.
"The hard part is when the
record companies and
managers and lawyers start
categorizing it and it becomes
someone's ledger sheet in so-
meone's office. I guess that's
really the struggle."
"It's the age-old problem,"
says Weiss, "and it's the good
war to fight . . . there's a way
to make art that satisfies the
market demands."
Where does the band go
from here? "I do think we've
got some creative momentum
now" says Fagenson. "Where-
as the last time we had it, the
legalities of the record com-
pany business forced us to
stop dead in our tracks. We
have the opportunity now. We
have people saying, 'Come on,
come on, a new album, let's
go, anything you want, just
get to work.' So that's great.
So I guess we do more."

Festival Set

The city of Southfield and
the International Institute of
Metropolitan Detroit will
sponsor the International
Folk Dance Festival on April
30, from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at the
Southfield Civic Center
Pavilion.
The event features 12
ethnic dance groups and food
stations in an international
setting as a fund-raiser for
the institute's ethnic enrich-
ment programs.

Italian, Greek, German,
