THE CULTURAL COMMISSION
of
Congregation B'nai David
invites you to participate
in our

SPRING CULTURAL FORUM

B'nai David also will hold a
Purim morning service and
Megillah reading at 7:15 a.m.
Tuesday.
A pizza party at 6:30 p.m.
Monday will begin Con-
gregation B'nai Moshe's
Purim activities. The event is
being sponsored by the
synagogue's cultural commis-
sion and Golden Dreams
Nursery School. Children are
asked to wear costumes, with
a prize awarded for best
costume. A Megillah reading
will follow the dinner.
Congregation B'nai
Israel of West Bloomfield
will host a traditional Purim
service and Megillah reading
at 7 p.m. Monday. The event
will include refreshments and
Purim songs and treats. A se-
cond Megillah reading will be
held during the 7:15 a.m. ser-
vice Tuesday.
A Purim carnival will be
held 11:30 a.m. Sunday at
Temple Emanu-El.
Everyone is encouraged to
come in costume.
A Purim Feast, sponsored
by the temple's Couple's Club,
will be held 6 p.m. Monday.
Purim services will follow.
The Temple IsraelYouth
Group will hold its annual
Purim carnival at noon Sun-
day. The event will include
games, raffles, food and a
moonwalk.
Families of the Jewish
Parents Institute will
celebrate Purim 10:15 Sun-
day at the Maple/Drake
Jewish Community Center.
The program will include a
costume parade, Purimspiels,
songs and dances by children
in the Sunday school,
refreshments and a carnival
hosted by JPI teens and
students.
Temple Kol Ami will hold
a Purim family service and
Megillah reading 7 p.m. Mon-
day, and Congregation
T'chiyah will hold Purim ser-
vices 6:45 p.m. Monday, con-
ducted by Mary Ellen
Gurewitz and Neil Chapin.
The Livonia Jewish Con-
gregationwill celebrate
Purim with a traditional
reading of the Megillah 7 p.m.
Monday. Refreshments will
be served after services.
Congregation Shaarey
Zedek begins its Purim
celebration 7:15 p.m. Monday
with a Megillah reading. A
parade will be held, and all
children in costume will
receive a prize. A second
Megillah reading will be held
7:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Shaarey Zedek will hold its
fifth annual Purim raffle for

Soviet Jewry Monday after
the Megillah reading. The
theme of the event is "No Jew
Is Free Until All Jews Are
Free." Prizes include a por-
table telephone, radios and
stuffed animals. Amy Wagner
is chairman of the program,
along with Jill Bruss, Sara
Lipton, Jessica Cohen, Missy
Kent, Robbie Krut, Ryan
Katz, Traci Provizer, Mellissa
Schaumberger and other
students in the seventh-grade
Hebrew school class.
Temple Shir Shalom will
hold a Purim carnival 1 p.m.
Sunday with prizes, games
and refreshments. Children
are encouraged to wear
costumes. The temple will
hold a Megillah reading 7:30
p.m. Monday.
Congregation
Shir
Tikvah will hold a Megillah
reading 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Everyone is asked to come in
costume. The children will
judge for the best costume.
Yeshivat Akiva will hold
its annual Purim se'udah
beginning with Minchah ser-
vices 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at
Congregation Shaarey Zedek.
Akiva's high school students
will perform "Joseph and the
Amazing Technicolor Dream-
coat." Children and adults are
invited to participate in a
costume parade.
Young Israel of Green-
field will conduct two
readings of the Megillah at
7:30 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. Mon-
day. In addition, readings will
be held at 7:15 a.m. and 9:30
a.m. Tuesday. Services begin
at 6:45 a.m. Tuesday.
Young Israel of Oak-
Woodswill hold a Megillah
reading following Ma'ariv ser-
vices 7:30 p.m. Monday and
Shachrit services 6:30 a.m.
Tuesday.

Beth Shalom
Lunch and Learn

Rabbi David Nelson and
Richard Lobenthal will pre-
sent a Lunch and Learn on
"An Adult Perspective on
Purim" Saturday at Con-
gregation Beth Shalom. A
dairy lunch will be served.
At the same time, children
10 years old and younger are
invited to a "Shabbat Food
and Fun" program at the
synagogue. The event will in-
clude lunch, songs, games
and entertainment by
storyteller Helen Utchenik.
