Robert Parkans a Parkans, Robert stockbroker for Paine Webber for 26 years, died March 4 at age 74. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Mr. Parkans was graduated from Northwestern University in 1934. He was active in SCORE and RAN. He was on the finance and music com- mittees at Temple Israel, where he was an usher. He leaves his wife, Miriam; a son, Richard of Arizona; two brothers, Lloyd and Sidney, both of Texas; and three grandchildren. Louis Sher Louis S. Sher, a retired branch manager for the Vogel-Ritt Extermination Co., died March 11 at age 83. Born in Worcester, Mass., Mr. Sher lived 17 years in Detroit. He received his GED certificate from Troy Adult Education at age 80. He taught woodworking and shop at the Troy High School. Interment Philadelphia, Pa. Abraham Goren Abraham "Abe" Goren, a partner in the Goren Fur- niture Co. in Detroit, died March 11 at age 76. Born in Poland, Mr. Goren lived 60 years in Detroit. He was associated with the fur- niture company for 45 years. He founded the company in 1952 with his brother, Sam. In the 1920s, Mr. Goren was a union organizer at Dodge and Ford Motor Co. He was a member of the Pisgah Lodge of B'nai B'rith and an active member of Congregation B'nai Zion. He was active in his furniture business until his death. He is survived by four daughters, Elaine, Iris Howard, Barbara Fields of Sherman Oaks, Calif., and Sandra; a brother, Sam; and four grandchildren. Sylvia Stashefsky Sylvia Stashefsky, a founder of Club Two of the Greater Detroit Council of Pioneer Women (now Na'amat USA), died March 12 at age 89. Born in Poland, Mrs. Stashefsky came to Detroit in 1920. Mrs. Stashefsky and her husband were members of the Jewish National Fund since its founding in Detroit. She was a past president of Club Two and reviewed books on Jewish life for the Pioneer Women organization. She also was an officer of Women of Jewish National Fund. She is survived by two sons, Jerome Stasson and Yisroel Stashefsky of Merome Hagalil, Israel; a daughter, Mrs. S. Daniel (Geri) Levit; a brother, Eliezer Manela of Nestziona, Israel; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
