MHS Sponsors
Poster Contest
As part of the Michigan
Humane Society's "Be Kind
to Animals Week" festivities,
the MHS will sponsor a
poster contest for children
under 18. The theme of the
contest is "Acts of Kindness
Taward Animals."
Winners in four categories
will be selected during "Be
Kind to Animals Week," May
7-13, and receive prizes.
The categories are grades
K-2, 3-6, 7-9 and 10-12. Each
entry must be the original
work of the artist. Entries
must be received by May. 1.
All entries become the pro-
perty of the MHS and will not
be returned. Works should be
no smaller than 22" x 28"
and no larger than 24" x 36".
Photography will not be
accepted.
The following information
must be provided on the back
of each poster: child's name,
age, address, phone number,
grade, school name, school ad-
dress and school phone
number.

Teen Depression
Topic Of Talk
Dr. Steven Spector wil
speak on adolescent depres-
sion at "Rainy Days and Mon-
days . . . A Workshop for
Parents" on Thursday at 7:30
p.m. at Harrison High School,
Farmington Hills.
Dr. Spector is a psychologist
and co-director of the Beacon
Hill Clinic in Birmingham.
He is an assistant professor of
pediatrics at Wayne State
University and a contributor
to the "Advisory Board/
Parent Talk" page of the
Detroit Free Press.
The workshop is sponsored
by the Farmington Public
Schools and the Harrison
Parent Council. There is no
charge. Refreshments will be
served, and the public is

Folk Dance
Workshop Set
An Israeli folk dance
workshop, with guest Israeli
choreographer Avi Peretz,

Sunday at the Jimmy Prentis
Morris Building of the Jewish

Babysitting
Course Set
The American Red Cross,
Southeastern Michigan
Chapter, will hold a two-day
instructor training session for
the Red Cross course on
"Babysitting" on Tuesday
and Wednesday.
Sessions will begin at 9:30
a.m. at the Red Cross Head-

`Company' 'Trip
Seats Available
Reservations are still being
taken for a trip to the Bir-
mingham Theater to see
Company on Wednesday. The
trip is sponsored by the senior
adult department of the
Jewish Community Center.
The afternoon includes
lunch at a Birmingham
restaurant, followed by the
musical.
Buses will depart from both
the Jimmy Prentis Morris
and Maple/Drake Buildings.
Departure from the Oak Park
location is 10:30 a.m. Depar-
ture from the West Bloom-
field location is 11:15 a.m. Fee
includes transportation and
tickets. Members must pay
