Guest speakers will be Gloria Beren, a clinical social worker, who will discuss "Feeling Stress? New Solu- tions" and Bill Laitner, Detroit Free Press health and fitness columnist, who will speak on "Personal Health Priorities: How to Get the Greatest Benefits." Beren holds degrees in social work from Michigan State University and Wayne State University. A psychiatric social worker at Kingswood Hospital, she also has a certificate in family therapy and marriage counseling. She has attended many professional and ex- periental seminars in hyp- nosis, meditation and imagery. Laitner began at the Free Press in 1977 as a researcher for the former Action Line col- umn. He has since held a variety of positions at the paper: Oakland Bureau newswriter, business writer, police reporter and city desk reporter. He wrote for Wayne State University's student newspaper, The South End, and in addition to his health and fitness column writes a weekly "Commuting" col- umn. Wellness Fair Highlights Week Of Jewish Women The sixth annual Interna- tional Week of the Jewish Woman will be observed the week beginning March 12 at 10 a.m. Locally, the week is highlighted by a Women's Wellness Fair, focusing on the body and soul. Sponsored by the Detroit Branch of the Lubavitcher Women's Organization, in conjunction with the Center for Cardiovascular Health of Sinai Hospital, this full-day event at the Maple/Drake Jewish Community Center looks at the broad scope of issues regarding women's health. The keynote speaker is Dr. Beulah Rothschild. Her talk is entitled, "Stress Manage- ment for Physical and Emo- tional Well-Being." As direc- tor of counseling services at the Women's Center of Mon- tgomery County, Pa., she has had hands-on experience with issues challenging women of all ages and backgrounds. Dr. Shlomo Sawilowsky, a member of the graduate faculty division of theoretical and behavioral foundations, College of Educaation at Wayne State University and a graduate of the Rabbinical College of America, will speak on "The Spiritual Dimensions of Mental Well- Being."
