!TORAH PORTION a Camp Weekend for Ninth graders Co-sponsored by: United Hebrew Schools B'nai B'rith Youth Organization Michigan State Temple Youth • a structured weekend of social, recreational, educational and religious programming at Camp Maas in Ortonville • Bus service provided. Message Continued from preceding page construction of our first house of worship and its continued maintenance. Perhaps most important, the meshing of Vayakheil and Shekalim is so potently in- dicative of the Jewish heart and soul, which throughout the ages have continued an endless chain of support for synagogues, temples and academies of higher Jewish learning; upheld the poor and needy in our midst; and con- tinuously upgraded Jewish institutions throughout the world. Shabbat Shekalim also beckons us, our friends and neighbors to begin Passover preparations by giving unhesitatingly to the Ma'ot Chitim funds in our respec- tive synagogues, which enable those less fortunate to purchase the necessary provi- sions for Pesach. Please be cognizent of the uplifting message of Shabbat Shekalim and Vayakheil. I SYNAGOGUES Cost per student $36 • The weekend will be subsidized by the Robert Ian Kornwise Fund of Adat Shalom Synagogue, which was established last year by Maureen and Sanford Kornwise in memory of their son, Robert. A Committee of teens representing the entire Jewish community has been involved in the planning of this creative weekend.
