U.S. Tells PLO
To Stop Raids

Washington — The United
States this week told the
Palestine Liberation
Organization to stop all at-
tacks on Israel or risk ending
talks with Washington.
The announcement was ap-
parently sparked by an at-
tempted raid on Israel last
week by the Democratic
Front for the Liberation of
Palestine, a PLO splinter
group. Members of an Israeli-
backed militia killed the
three guerrillas.
A State Department
spokesman said the PLO is
responsible for all groups
under its wing even if they do
not support PLO leader
Yassir Arafat's renunciation
of terrorism.

New York — A recent study
shows that children of
yeridim, Israeli emigrants, in
the United States are losing
their knowledge of Hebrew
and their Israeli identity.
"Children of Circumstance:
Israeli Emigrants in New
York," a study conducted by
Professor Moshe Shokeid,
concludes that yeridim often
feel guilty about leaving
Israel. They say resident
Israelis scorn them, and that
they will return one day to
Israel.
While the study shows the
new immigrants care about
Judaism, they do not form
cohesive ethnic groups that
could help continue their
traditions and identity.

Israel Bonds
Moves Office

It's goodbye Greenfield,
hello Telegraph for the Israel
Bonds office this week.
After 20 years at three loca-
tions on Greenfield Road —
including the last 10 1/2 years
in the Jewish Family Service
building — Israel Bonds mov-
ed this week to larger
quarters in the Manufac-
turers Bank Tower north of
Telegraph and 12 Mile.
The new office is 685 square
feet larger, providing sorely
needed clerical and meeting
room space, according to Her-
shell Wais, Bonds executive
director for Michigan. He said
the old office had lost some
space to JFS in its current
lease and parking is better at
the new site.
