Bayme is responsible for
Jewish family issues, Jewish
social policy, Jewish educa-
tion, and intra-Jewish rela-
tions. Previously, as assistant
director, he staffed the Task
Force on Family Policy, and
coordinated programs, con-
ferences and publications on
Jewish sociology, values and
identity, social thought, inter-
marriage and conversion and
campus life.
Formerly Dr. Bayme served
as the National Jewish
Education Director for
Hadassah, the Women's
Zionist Organization of
America. He holds under-
gradaute degrees in history
from Yeshiva University and
M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in
Jewish history from Colum-
bia University. He has lec-
tured widely across the coun-
try and taught at Yeshiva
University, Jewish Theologi-
cal Seminary, Hebrew Union
College and Queens College.
He has published articles
on family policy, on liberal
Judaism, Jewish responses to
modernity.
He is a member of the Leo
Baeck Faculty Seminar, the
Continuing Seminar on
Zionist Thought, the Wexner
Foundation Fellowship Com-
mittee and has served fre-
quently as a judge for the Na-
tional Jewish Book Awards.
