developed a stronger Jewish
identity through his involve-
ment with the Jewish Welfare
Federation of Detroit.
"I've been heavily involved
in their campaigns, as well as
the social-political awareness
activities for the past five
years," he says. Seltzer, 32,
has served on the board of
directors of the Young Adult
Division of Federation.
"It keeps me in contact
with a lot of events that are
happening in the Jewish com-
munity," he says. "It also
keeps me in touch with the
needs of this community and
those abroad."
On a more personal level,
Seltzer says that he tries to
date primarily Jewish
women, and attend
synagogue during the
holidays.
Rene Linden uses Yiddish
songs and a piano to keep her
Jewish identity on track.
"I love to sing Yiddish
songs at senior citizen
_homes," says the grade-school
teacher. "I perform fralach
Shabbos at the Fleischman
Home and it really ignites a
sparkle in the seniors' eyes. It
brings back a -lot of old
memories for them and it's
just as delightful for ma"
Linden says she does a lot of
things to maintain her
Jewish identity. "I keep a'
kosher home; I'm active in
functions at the Jewish
Center, and I'm on the ex-
ecutive committee for the
Social Singles groups at the
JCC."
She also reads and reviews

'Physical Night'
At The Center

The Community Network
for Jewish Singles will host
"Let's Get Physical Night" at
the Maple/Drake Jewish
Community Center, 9 p.m.
March 4.
Co-ed volleyball, racquet-
ball, basketball, swimming
floor hockey and refresh-
ments will be offered.
Participants are asked to
bring card and board games,
racquets, balls and goggles.
There is an admission charge.

Temple Jems
Will Bowl

Jems (Jews who enjoy
meeting singles) is a group of
men and women in their 20s
and 30s, affiliated with Tem-
ple Israel. Jems will meet at
8 p.m. Saturday at West
Bloomfield Lanes for an even-
ing of bowling.
Upcoming events include a
Dinner Club on March 9, a
Wine Tasting Party on March
25, a theatre party in April
and a Shabbat Singles Ser-
