Honorary co-chairman
David Hermelin will be the
featured speaker Wednesday
at a kickoff party for
volunteers who are organiz-
ing the 1990 North American
Maccabi Youth Games in
Detroit.
Hermelin is honorary co-
chair with Bill Davidson for
the games, which are ex-
pected to draw more than
2,000 Jewish athletes aged
12-16 to Detroit in August
1990.
At Wednesday's reception,
which begins at 7:30 p.m. in
the Maple-Drake Jewish
Community Center's DeRoy
Theatre, a 10-minute
videotape of the 1988 games
in Chicago will be shown.
Jay Robinson, 1990 general
chairman, will give an over-
view of the games' organiza-
tion and schedule and an-
nounce committee chairmen.

volunteering for the games

office at the Jewish Center,

open softball leagues.
Division offered are: Men's

In Honey Berris
With one week to play in
the Honey Berris basketball
league, three teams were tied
for first place.
In Feb. 15 action at the
Maple/Drake Jewish Com-
munity Center, the
Wolverines (4-1) created the
deadlock by downing
Supreme Court (4-1), 63-54.
Steve Rosen led the winners
with 20 points.
The Bulls (4-1) joined the tie
with a 90-50 win over What's
Up Doc? Walter Jones tallied
32 points for the Bulls.
Paul Ehrmann (2-4) com-
pleted its regular-season
schedule by gaining a forfeit
win over the Pistons (2-3).
The JCC varsity basketball
team upped its record to 10-2
with an 85-43 win over the
Windsor JCC last week. Tare
Wigod led the winners with
28 points. Eric Leib scored 17
while Brian Schwartz and
Scott Zacks tallied 14 apiece.
