English 'Tutors

New York — Volunteer
teachers are needed to work
as English tutors in Israel
this summer.
Recruitment is being han-
dled by Thachers on Volunteer
Service (TOVS), an organiza-
tion under the umbrella of
the World Zionist Organiza-
tion. TOVS also helps
volunteers, who pay their own
travel and living expenses,

locate low-cost apartment
rentals in Israel.
Teaching assignments are
available in public and
private schools in Jerusalem,
Haifa, Tel Aviv, Natanya and

Perform Play

Adat Shalom Nursery
School, in conjunction with
the synagogue's social club,
will hold a Shabbat play and
family dinner on Feb. 24.
At 6 p.m., preceding dinner,
the school's youngsters will
perform an original musical
rendition of David and
Goliath. There is no charge
for the performance. .

Theologian Speaks Here

Detroit Chapter, American
Jewish Committee, will host
Mary C. Boys, associate pro-
fessor of theology and
religious education at Boston
College, who will speak on "A
Christian Views the Realities
of the Middle East" at St.
Aidan's Church, 17500 Farm-
ington Rd., Livonia on Thurs-
day at 8 p.m.
Father Alex Brunett, pastor
of St. Aidan's and ecumenical
officer of the archidiocese, will
introduce Prof. Boys.
Prof. Boys received her
master's and doctoral degrees
from Columbia University-
Union Theological Seminary
in New York City and has
done advanced study at the
Ecumenical Institute for
Theological Research in
Jerusalem, Israel. Author of
Biblical Interpretation in
Religious Education, she has
published more than 25 ar-
ticles in journals such as Con-
cilium, Horizons, Religious
Education, Biblical Theology
Bulletin, and Chicago Studies.
Two books are scheduled to
appear early in 1989:
Educating in Faith: Maps and
Visions and an edited work
Education for Citizenship and
Discipleship.
She holds membership in
Catholic Biblical Association,
Society of Biblical Literature,

Association of Professors and
Researchers in ReligiouS
Education, College Theology
Society and the Catholic
Theological Society of
America.
Prof. Boys is chairman of
both the Catholic-Jewish
Committee of the Archdiocese
of Boston and the chapel Ad-
visory Council of Princeton
University. She is a member
of the board of directors of the
National Conference of Chris-
tians and Jews (New England
Region), and of the board of
trustees at the Pontifical Col-
lege Josephinum.
