MSTY members must belong to
a temple youth group. Programs
include conventions, conclaves,
socials and leadership training.
It is affiliated with the North
American Federation of Temple
Youth and Union of American
Hebrew Congregations. To join,

United Hebrew Schools Com-
munity Jewish High School of-
fers Judaica and Hebraica
courses for youth in grades eight
through 12. The high school
sponsors Shabbatonim, trips,
outreach programs to youth
groups and is a sponsor of Pro-
ject Discovery, the semester-in-
Israel program. In conjunction
with Wayne State University,
UHS has advanced placement
college credit courses for high
school seniors. There is a rebbe's
tish at 6 p.m. Tuesdays, when
special topics of interest to
Jewish teens are discussed.

Jewish Community Center of-
fers a teen dance club, a swim
team, varsity basketball team,
weight room, Jewish Teens in
Service program and teen focus
program for teens in grades
nine-12. The Teen Connection is
for grades seven and eight.
Classes are offered for certified
babysitting, karate and aerobics.
Special teen affiliate member-
ship: $75, with proof of current
membership in a teen youth

B'nei Akiva is a religious
Zionist youth movement of the
Young Israel Synagogue, af-
filiated with the Mizrachi
HaPoel HaMizrachi organiza-
tion.

Chevreyah Bet is the B'nei
Akiva high school division for
youth grades nine-12 and offers
social events, Shabbatonim,
leadership training seminars,
sporting events, special educa-
tional programs and field trips.
Ongoing activities include a
talent group, dance troupe and
the B'nei Akiva Players for
youth in grades one-6. B'nei
Akiva is the sponsor of the local
Detroit Elitzur Volleyball Team
for girls in grades seven-12. For
information, contact Benny Ap-

The National Conference of
Synagogue Youth is an
Orthodox-sponsored youth
movement for all Jewish youth
regardless of background or af-
filiation. NCSY serves high
school students in the ninth-12th
grades in the Senior NCSY divi-
sion, and pre-high school
students in the fifth-eighth
grades in the Junior NCSY divi-
sion. In addition, NCSY serves
developmentally disabled youth,
ages 12-20 in Yachad-NCSY.
Programming includes social,e
ducational and community
oriented activities. There are
regular regional Shabbatonim
throughout the year. In addition,
NCSY runs several summer pro-
grams for ninth-12th graders, in-
cluding the Israel Summer
Seminar, Jewish Overseas
Leadership Training and two
cross-country tours. For infor-
