phonse Halimi, who held the
world bantamweight title
from 1957-59. He ended his
career with 41 wins, one loss
and one draw.
Halimi, an Orthodox Jew
who wore a Star of David in-
signia on his boxing trunks,
went on to win the European
bantamweight title in Tel
Aviv on June 26, 1962, the
first professional boxing event
ever held in Israel.
There are 116 athletes and
officials in the 10-year-old
Hall of Fame.

Amsterdam (JTA) — The
Anne Frank House will
undergo extensive reconstruc-
tion due to the ever-
increasing number of visitors.
The house has become the
second-largest tourist attrac-
tion in Amsterdam, exceeded
in popularity only the the
Rijk Museum with its collec-
tion of Rembrandts.
A house at the back . of the
Anne Frank House at 263
Prinsengracht, now separated
from it by a garden, will be
connected with it and made
accessible through a covered
passage through the garden.
Because of the cramped
situation, tourists now en-
dure long waits outside the
house before they can be
admitted.
There were 534,000 visitors
to the Anne Frank House in
1987, and 560,000 were ex-
pected by the end of 1988.
