It is suggested that a get be obtained
immediately after a civil divorce is
instituted, so that if a person does
want to remarry years later, he doesn't
have to scour the country for an "ex"
to comply with this simple procedure.
In the past 15 years, there has
been an increase of annulments in
Jewish marriages. This is because a
clause — between 3,000 and 1,500
years old — has been found in the
Talmud stating that if a husband is
withholding a get from his wife
because of blackmail or any other
scurrilous reason, a court can be
summoned to review her case and
demand to know why he will not
grant her a get.
A second wedding doesn't mean
second best. As one second-time
bride remarked as she was leaving the
wonderful wedding party she and her
husband had thrown for each other,
"I guess it's true that practice makes
perfect."

Pearls For
The Bride

Ever since history's first bride said
the first "I do," pearls have been a
bride's best friend. Once considered
mystical gems with the power to
ensure long life and prosperity, today
pearls are perhaps the perfect jewel to
accompany a blushing bride down the
aisle.
"A fine strand of pearls is probably
the best single jewelry item a bride can
wear;'states Linda Weichenrieder of
Modern Bride magazine.
"Not only are pearls elegant,
traditional and always in fashion, but
they complement almost any bridal
design as well. They seem to have the
unique ability to pick up and enhance
the glow of a woman on her wedding
day:"
Indeed pearls, which come in a
variety of shapes from round to
baroque, in colors from white to black,
and in lengths from choker to opera,
