mother suggested," she adds. "It's also
a very romantic, intimate way to
celebrate a honeymoon."
Friedman notes that from her
own clientele which come mostly
from Birmingham, West Bloomfield
Farmington, and Southfield, 90
percent of the honeymooners choose
a cruise for their trip.
She advises couples to make their
reservations as soon as possible in
order to get the date they want.
"Besides if they get this out of the
way, it's one less thing they have to
do"
At Travel Bazaar Inc., owner
Nancy Jonna said that the largest
percentage of honeymoon couples
that she serves opt for a tropical
paradise vacation in Hawaii.
"My honeymooners don't want to
cruise," she says.
"They don't like the accommo-
dations. They'd rather have a beach
and a tropical island — something
more romantic:"
"I would say that 70 percent of
our honeymooners choose Hawaii,"
she said. "The hot spots are Maui and
Oahu."
On the other hand, she said that
only between 10-20 percent of her
clients decide on cruises.
Jonna notices that future
honeymooners have no idea about
where they want to go.
"I tell them to come on in, and
I interview them," she says.
"I ask them where they have
been, what they want to do on their
honeymoon, do they just want to lie
in the sun, or sightsee."
"Then we decide on their
budget," she says. "If they don't have
a budget, I'll usually tell them Hawaii:'
She recommends Mexico, if they
are on a budget and if they want to
have something to do every minute
she suggests a cruise.
Jonna says that once the couple
has narrowed down their choice to
three, she sets them up with a video
of those destinations.
"I have in stock, Hawaii, the
Caribbean, Mexico, and Europe," she
says.
