nual intercongregational din-

thodox, Conservative and
Reform men's clubs of Greater
Detroit will join to celebrate
International Brotherhood
Week.
This year's speaker is Rab-
bi Henry D. Michelman, who
will speak on "The American
Jewish Community gbday: Is
Unity Possible."
. Rabbi Michelman is ex-
ecutive vice president of the
Synagogue Council of
America, the national coor-
dinating body of the rabbinic
and congregational arms of
Conservative, Orthodox and
Reform Judaism in America.
He served Congregation
Baith Israel Anshei Emes of
Brooklyn from 1967 to 1970.
He was assistant to the presi-
dent of the Jewish
Theological Seminary and
then, as assistant to the
chancellor.
Rabbi Michelman serves on
the board of numerous
religious and civic organiza-
tions, including: National In-
terfaith Coalition. on Aging,
National Hospice Organiza-
tion, Religion in American
Life, National Workshop on
Christian-Jewish Relations
and the Martin Luther King,
Jr. Federal Holiday
Commission.

To Speak •

Irving Bluestone, former
UAW leader, will speak at the
Probus meeting on Thursday
at 6:30 p.m. at the Furniture
Club.
A past negotiator for UAW-
GM contracts and a partici-
pant in contract negotiations
at Ford, Chrysler and
American Motors, Bluestone
is a professor at Wayne State
University. He is the author
of countless articles in
leading publications and is on
the board of directoi-s of
several organizations.

NCJW To Sponsor
Drug Abuse Series

The National Council of
Jewish Women, Greater
Detroit Section, will continue
its winter health series with
a program on drug and sub-
stance abuse Feb. 8 at 10 a.m.
at the NCJW offices in
Southfield.
A three-person panel will
discuss both adolescent and
adult drug and substance
abuse, the signs of abuse and
its impact upon the family.
Participating on the panel are
Al Dicken, coordinator of
health education and director
of the student assistance pro-
gram at West Bloomfield
High School, and Nan Hudler
and Barbara Judge of- the
Brighton Hospital Family
Program.
The event is sponsored by
the section's program and
membership committee,

headed by Sally Green. Gerry
Pasternak is chairman. On
her committee are: Bobbie
Blitz, Roberta Grosinger,
Elaine Koshar, Lenora Naler
and Phyllis Young.
The program is open to the
community. There is a fee.

9:30 a.m.

Fire Kills Two

Amsterdam (JTA) — A fire
that broke out in the Jewish
old-age home "Beth Shalom"
in Amsterdam claimed the
lives of two male patients.
The Dec. 31 fire was ac-
cidentally caused by a
smoldering cigarette.
