medals (four golds). The
oldest member of the team,
Joseph Greenberg, Marina
Del Rey, Calif., 38, won both
the discus and the javelin
competitonns, while taking
the bronze in the shot put.
Denise Green, Chicago, Ill.,
Daniel Goldblatt, New Ca-
naan, Conn., and Gregg
Abramson, Hewlett, N.Y., all
won at least two medals in
the running events.
In tennis, the women won
the team gold as Maxanne
Sechter, Brooklyn, N.Y., and
Jill Tobin, Abilene, Texas,
finished one-two, while the
men's squad won the bronze.
The U.S. squash team won
I- the bronze. No American
golfers medaled. There were
no Michiganians on the U.S.
team.
"The trip was a great suc-
cess for us," said Alan Sher-
man, U.S. General Chairman
• for the Carnival. "Our
athletes performed very well,
and were able to share in this
special event with Jews from
around the world."
Tryouts are now in progress
for the World Maccabiah
Games to be held in Israel
this July. Over 4,000 world-
class athletes from more than
35 countries will gather for
the 13th Maccabiah. For in-
