One of the West Coast's most talented Cantors, Aviva Rosenbloom of Temple Israel in
Hollywood, has performed with the Los Angeles Master Chorale, The Orange County Master
Chorale and The Ventura County Symphony. She has performed in a number of operatic roles
as well, among them Mimi in La Boheme, Despina, in Cosi fan tutte, and Mrs. Ford in The
Merry Wives of Windsor.
"Her delivery was particularly moving, as she commanded a
wide range of musical and dramatic expression and produced
a hauntingly beautiful sound,"

Diamond Exports
May Be Cut
Tel Aviv (JTA) — The recent
death of Japanese emperor
Hirohito may adversely affect
exports to Japan, according to
Moshe Schnitzer, president of
the diamond exchange in
Ramat Gan.
Japan, which is one of
Israel's largest customers for
cut and polished diamonds,
accounts for some $600
million in sales a year. But
the two-year mourning period
for the emperor, a Japanese
tradition, will put a damper
on celebrations such as wed-
dings and even geisha parties,
which are occasions for much
of the diamond purchases by
individuals in Japan, Schnit-
zer said.
Hirohito died last week at
the age of 87, after a 62-year
reign, the longest of any
modern monarch.
Schnitzer expects diamond
orders from Japan will be
down by half, for the next -
several months at least.
Finished diamonds are one
of Israel's largest exports.
They bring in a net income of
$1 billion a year.
