children join their peers in
the educational mainstream.
He told of one student,
Moishie, who had reading
problems before coming to
P'TACH but who now is a
yeshiva student asking his
rabbi to give him more to read
and learn.
"He succeeds because, at a
young age, he was not
discouraged. With P'TACH,
he learned how to do it (read)
differently, and today, he's a
success," Hochheiser said.
Hochheiser was introduced
by P'TACH President Tzvi
Burstyn as a man who "could
not wait to end one fundrais-
ing dinner and begin plann-
ing another. Michael is
synonymous with P'tach."
P'TACH is an acronym for
Parents for Ibrah for All
Children. The program,
founded by the Orthodox com-
unity, is based at the
shivath Beth Yehudah and
Sally Allan Alexander Beth
Jacob School for Girls and
aims to give every Jewish
child a day school education.
