Tamarack Sets
Its Jamboree
Tamarack Camps will hold
their annual jamboree at the
Maple/Drake Jewish Com-
munity Center, Shiffman
Hall, on Jan. 15 at 1 p.m.
Featured this year is a
trampoline and tumbling act
by two members of the Motor
City Jaguars, Perseus Carter
and Scott Moore. Both are na-
tional champions in tram-
poline and their shows will
take place at 2 and 3 p.m.
In addition, there will be
more than 35 activity booths
that include such crafts as
ceramics, toe weaving and
bead necklaces, and carnival
games such as shave the
balloon, ping pong pistol
shoot, dart toss and squirt the
candle. All activities are of-
fered free of charge to the
general community, along
with free popcorn, sno-cones,
and punch.
There will be a continuous
showing of the Tamarack
Camps movie, as well as
displays and slide shows of
the summer programs.
Tamarack Camps, Fresh
Air Society, is a member
agency of the Jewish Welfare
Federation that provides sum-
mer residential camping ex-
periences at Camp Tamarack
for children entering second -
fifth grades, and at Camp
Maas for pre-teens and teens
entering sixth - 10th grades.
There are nine-day, two-week,
three-week and four-week
programs. Summer brochures
and registration materials
will be available for parents
in room 239 of the Center.

Machon TirIbrah, the Jewish
Learning Network of
Michigan, will introduce a
five-week series of lectures on
kosher "know how," beginn-
ing 7 p.m. Jan. 25 at the
Machon.
This series is geared toward
individuals who are in-
terested in learning about
what is involved in
establishing a kosher home
and also for those who are in-
terested in upgrading their
kashrut knowledge. Classes
will be led by Rabbi Avraham
Jacobovitz. There is no charge
for the series.
