FACTORIES

You'll never have to ask this
question again after being
there.
1989 WILL HAVE an
important significance since
at the stroke so many people
will be drinking a toast
with fervent wishes that the
new governmental adminis-
tration turns out to be a good
one.
The usual wishes will
always be there, too . . . for
peace on earth . . . and good
health.
There'll be the always house
parties galore . . . People who
refuse to go out New Year's
Eve because of two reasons
. . . prices are allegedly upped
ridiculously they say . . . and
it's "amateur night" to them.
But whatever and however
. . . even if it's watching
Times Square on television
. . . or enjoying a good movie
. . . dining out or whooping it
up at a favorite nitery . . .
very few will forget to
celebrate in their own way.
Perhpas there's cause to say
fond adieu to 1988 . . . and a
cheery hello to 1989 . . . but
whatever the reason, ringing
in of another year seems to
bring out even more festivity
in so many people who take
full advantage of that mid-
night hour . . . for good health
. . . a better year . . . and so
many other things.
Restaurateurs do their ut-
most to make sure you have
a festive time . . . Remember,
they're also celebrating the
new year.
All places, of course, provide
noisemakers, favors, balloons
and confetti for midnight
merriment.
Call ahead if places have an
open house . . . there may not
be room to get in . . . And by
all means make reservations
at those with • packages .. .
Don't even think about going
without one.
WE ARE DULY and
morally obligated to publish
letters from readers because
it has been our policy to do so
these many years of scribing
. . . However, they do not in
any way necessarily reflect a
consensus of opinion by other
readers . . . The letter is sole-
ly its writer's observation,
and should be taken in that
context.
MANY TOP chefs will be
at Southfield Civic Center
pavillion Jan. 29, 3 to 7 p.m.
for the second annual
"Michigan The Bountiful"
gourmet extravaganza . . . It's
sponsored by the City and
Michigan Chefs de Cuisine
Association (MCCA) . . .
