good deal of time teaching
hockey fundamentals to those
less-experienced players. But
the hardest part of Farrell's
job is finding enough talented
boys who are interested in
hockey and who are not play-
ing in other leagues.
"I'm in the junior highs. I
try to get the kids who are in
elementary school interested
in hockey. I talk to parents.
I'm missing several kids in
our school who are playing
travel hockey. I have to get
those kids out for us to be a
true contender."
Among the Barons' promis-
ing freshmen are defensemen
Dan Gunsberg and Brad
Schneider, plus forwards Sean
Rosenthal and Scott Marcus.
Farrell hopes that all four
players will be contributing
as sophomores or juniors.
Gunsberg is "a hard worker,
he's not intimidated."
Schneider scored his first
high school goal against
Stevenson. "In a couple of
years he's going to be a major
contributor to this team,"
says Farrell. Rosenthal, who

Marcus broke his leg early
in the season and is probably
out for the year. "He probably
would've helped us out this
year," says Farrell, who hopes
to see Marcus back on skates
for conditioning in February.

Activist
Is Indicted

Los Angeles (JTA) —
Michael Goland, a maverick
pro-Israel activist, has been
indicted by a federal grand
jury on charges of launching
an illegal effort to aid the
1986 re-election campaign of
California Sen. Alan
Cranston.
The indictment charges
that Goland violated federal
election laws by funneling
$120,000 to a fringe right-
wing candidate in the 1986
senatorial race, to siphon
votes away from the
Republican candidate who
was threatening the re-
election bid of Cranston, a
Democrat.
The alleged ploy worked
because the fringe candidate,
Edward Vallen of the Ameri-
can Independent Party, took
just enough votes away from
Republican Ed Zschau to
assure Cranston's victory.
