1Wo Israelis Die
In Pan Am Crash

Washington, D.C. (JTA) —
The names of two Israelis
were included on a partial
list, released last week by Pan
American Airways, of
passengers aboard Pan Am
Flight 103. They are D.
Brownerbeer and D. Dorns-
tein.
The State Department
would not confirm that
sabotage was the cause of the
downing of the Pan American
flight over Scotland, but said
an anonymous call Dec. 5 by
the Abu Nidal Organization
predicted the bombing of a
U.S.-bound Pan American jet
within two weeks.
State Department spokes-
woman Phyllis Oakley said a
call was made to the U.S. Em-
bassy in Helsinki, Finland,
warning that "sometime
within the next two weeks
there would be a bombing
attempt against a Pan
American aircraft flying from
Frankfurt to the United
States."
Oakley did not know how
many calls the individual had
made.

Former Nazi
Is Sentenced

Bonn (JTA) — An 82-year-
old former Nazi police officer,
Wilhelm Wagner, was
sentenced this week to life
imprisonment by a
Nuremberg court for the
willful murder of three Jews
in Poland during the war.
The crime occurred in the
town of Wieliickzka, near
Cracow, in August 1942.
Judge Johann Manger ex-
plained that Wagner was
given the maximum penalty
— despite his advanced age —
because he attacked the Jews
without provocation and was
not under orders from his
superiors.
Two of his victims were
bedridden with illness.

Italy Bans
Ex-Nazi's Wife

Rome — Italian officials are
refusing to allow the wife of
a former SS officer inito the
country to promote a book
about her husband.
Annaliese Keppler says her
husband, Herbert, was only
obeying orders during the
murder of more than 350
Italian Jews. She also alleges
that he tried to save the
victims.
Herbert Keppler was tried
and found guilty in Italy. In
1977, his wife smuggled him
out of prison.
