Sinai Ready For Russians With the help of Russian- speaking volunteers, Sinai Hospital will provide total health care for Russian Jewish immigrants coming to Detroit, according to Sinai's Acting President Robert A. Steinberg. About 50 im- migrants are expected within the next three months. "We have a service called Language Interpretation for Patients (LIP), which is of- fered through the Sinai Hospital Guild," Steinberg said. "These are Russian- speaking volunteers who translate for the immigrants as they go through the health care system." Working with the Jewish Family and Resettlement Ser- vice and Jewish Vocational Services, Sinai will screen the immigrants for health pro- blems and evaluate each per- son's health for vocational placement, as well as provide initial care until they can find work or become eligible for state-sponsored care. The immigrants will receive care through Sinai's outpatient Primary Care Center in the hospital's Blumberg Professional Buld- ing where each patient is routinely assigned his or her own physician.
