of the Hebrew University mourn, with deep sorrow, the passing of our
esteemed colleague and friend.

BERNARD CHERRICK

Vice President of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.

A native of Dublin, Ireland, Cherrick was educated in England. He was
chief rabbi to the New Synagogue in London, chaplain to the British Ar-
my, served in France as chaplain to the British Expeditionary Forces.

Cherrick headed the Jewish Notional Fund and United Palestine Appeal
in Great Britain and appointed world director of organization of the
Hebrew University. He is a member of the university's major policy com-
mittees, vice president of Hebrew University, chairman of the Israel
Academic Committee, vice president of the International Association of
University Presidents and represented the university at IAUP congresses
in Seoul and Monrovia.

JACOB WEITZER, former
Detroiter of North Miami
Beach, Fla., died Dec. 26. Sur-
vived by his wife, Pauline; two

ta) Bernard and Mrs. William
E. (Leah) Singer, both of
Southfield; and five grand-
children. Interment Miami.

Dr. Kapetansky

Dr. Donald I. Kapetansky, a
plastic surgeon affiliated with
Providence, Children's and
Sinai hospitals, died Dec. 22
at age 58.
A native Detroiter, Dr.
Kapetansky was a reconstruc-
tive plastic surgeon whose
specialty was repairing cleft
palates. He was interna-
tionally known for his special-
ty about which he had writ-
ten several books. He was
graduated from the Universi-
ty of Michigan Medical
School.
He leaves two daughters,
Mrs. Michael (Carol) Golob
and Mrs. David (Joanne) Can-
vasser of Iowa city, Iowa; his
mother, Mrs. Fay Kapetansky
of Lake Worth, Fla.; two
brothers, Dr. Fred of Colum-
bus, Ohio, and Larry King of
Lake Worth; five grand-
children.

Morey Kutzen

Morey Kutzen, former
owner of Moray's Jewelry
Stores, died Dec. 23 at age 85.
Born in Detroit, Mr. Kutzen
owned two jewelry stores in
Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor. He
was a 45-year member of Con-
gregation Beth Israel in Ann
Arbor and a former board
member. He was active in the
student development depart-
ment of Eastern Michigan
University. He was a member
of the Washtenaw Country
Club, a 32nd degree Mason —
Ypsilanti Chapter, a member
of the Hannah Schloss Old
Timers.
He leaves his wife, Annette;
two daughter, Mrs. Sheldon
(Judith) Levin and Mrs.
Lawrence (Stephanie) Weins-
tein of Wilmette, Ill.; a sister,
Mrs. Dennis (Flora) Kovan;
and seven grandchildren.

Charles Chapin

Charles Chapin, an
engineer for the city of
Detroit's water and sewerage
department, died Dec. 20 at
age 66.
Born in Detroit, Mr. Chapin
was with the department for
42 years. He was a licensed
professional engineer and a
life member of the Institute of
