LOCAL NEWS t"''

Sinai has begun a clinical
trial to test the safety and ef-
ficacy of a new filter for
preventing pulmonary em-
bolism, a blood clot which can
restrict blood flow to the
lungs. The filter requires a
less invasive procedure than
filters now on the market.
The filter, developed by a
radiologist at Beth Israel
Hospital in Boston, has been
successfully implanted in
about 25 patients. Sinai is the
first hospital in Michigan to
test the device.
For information about the
procedure, call Dr. Marc
Kahn, 493-5940.
