B'not Mitzvah
Lori Schram, daughter of
Freda and Stuart Schram,
and Deborah Sage, daughter
of Sheila Sage and Bruce
Sage, will twin the obser-
vance of their b'not mitzvah
celebration Saturday at Adat
Shalom Synagogue with
Elvira Fishman, daughter of
Mila and Anatol Fishman of
Kiev, USSR.
One brother and two sisters
of Fishman's grandfather
emigrated to the United
States in the early 1900s.
Their descendants, a large
family, corresponded with the
family in Russia until the
late 1960s. Then followed a
10-year silence, broken in
1978 by a letter from Fish-
man's mother, who stated
that the family wished to
come to the United States
and sought advice.
Their relatives in the
United States received
several letters between 1978
and 1980, followed by a
silence of nearly two years,
from July 1980 to April 1982.
They then received a last let-
ter from Fishman in which he
stated that his present job
was far from Kiev, his wife
was employed in an office, and
even his mother was continu-
ing to work. Letters have
beenswritten,periodically but
there has been no response.
Lori and Deborah have
written to Elvira and they
will attempt to reach the
family by phone.
