Nimrodi Account
To Be Inspected

Geneva (JTA) — The Swiss
bank account of an Israeli
arms dealer involved in the
Iran-Contra scandal will be
opened for inspection by U.S.
investigators, a federal court
in the Swiss city of Lausanne
ruled recently.
The court rejected the claim
by attorneys for Yaakov
Nimrodi that he had been
operating officially for the
Israeli government and was
not involved in the Iran affair.
Nimrodi, a retired colonel
in the Israel Defense Force,
admitted having an account
in the Swiss Credit Bank in
Geneva. It was used to
transfer $1 million
originating in Israel to the ac-
count of Lt. Col. Oliver North,
a former aide to President
Reagan's National Security
Council.
Those funds are alleged to
have been used to finance a
clandestine American arms
shipment to Iran in 1985,
when the United States of-
ficially maintained an arms
embargo against Iran. Nim-
rodi is suspected of having
been a key figure in the illicit
transaction.

IDF Kills
Two Terrorists

Tel Aviv (JTA) — An Israel
Defense Force patrol this
week killed two terrorist in-
filtrators in the central sector
of the southern Lebanon
security zone.
There were no Israeli
casualties in the clash, which
occurred south of Barashit
village.
The terrorists, apparently
making for the Israel border,
were carrying assault rifles,
grenades and sabotage equip-
ment. The infiltration at-
tempt was the third in-
tercepted in the security zone
in the past two weeks.

Arab Travelers
Are Sent Home

Tel Aviv (JTA) — Two Arab-
American women recently ar-
riving at Ben-Gurion Airport
were detained by police and
sent back to the United
States after an anti-Semitic
outburst.
The women began to hurl
insults when an Arab man ac-
companying them was found
to be on a list of people barred
from entering Israel.
One of the women was
quoted as saying, "It's a pity
Hitler didn't totally destroy
the Jewish people."
