tions perhaps, Jordan or a
Saudi expeditionary force,"
Barak said.
The changes he mentioned
include the ending of the
Iran-Iraq war; the threat pos-
ed to Israel by surface-to-
surface missiles and chemical
weapons; the build-up of the
Syrian and Saudi military
arsenals; and the increased
effort Israel must expend to
maintain control over the
West Bank and Gaza Strip.

Corps Seeks
Volunteers .

New York (JTA) — The
Corps of Service to the Jewish
People, a program launched
earlier this year by the Union
of American Hebrew Con-
gregations, needs volunteers
in Jewish communities
around the world.
Whether it's a physician to
serve Jews in Ethiopia or a
business analyst to aid a
young kibbutz in the Israeli
desert develop an export in-
dustry, the corps is looking for
post-college as well as retired
Jews who are willing to work
without pay. Travel expenses
and living costs will be
reimbursed.
The position, which re-
quires 15 to 25 hours of work
each week, should be filled by
someone over the age of 22
who speaks French and has
an ability to teach Hebrew,
Jewish 'history, rituals and
values.

Israeli Volleyball
Team Loses

Tel Aviv (JTA) — The
Hapoel volleyball team from
Kiryat Ata, the Israeli cham-
pions, last week was defeated
when they played the Moscow
Dynamos, the Soviet Cup-
holders,. in Moscow.
Hapoel was soundly beaten
— 15-8, 15-3 and 15-2 — in
what was the first round of
the European Cup tourna-
ment.
The televised match was
the first time in the 21 years
since Moscow severed diplo-
matic relations with Israel
that Israeli and Soviet sports
teams met anywhere but a
third country.
