Isidor Pollak Isidor Pollak, a past presi- dent of the Rotary Club of Southfield, died Nov. 15 at age 86. A former Detroiter, Mr. Pollak resided in San Diego, Calif., at the time of his death. Ruskin, a psychoanalyst, died Nov. 21 at age 93. Born in Russia, Dr. Ruskin lived in Detroit more than 65 years. He was graduated from the University of Toronto Medical School in 1953. He was a member of the American Psychoanalytic Association, Wayne County Medical Society. Dr. Ruskin was on the staffs of Sinai and Providence Hospitals. He was a member of Temple Israel. He leaves his wife, Sylvia; two sons, Dr. Robert and Herbert of White Plains, N.Y.; two sisters, Mrs. Robert (Ethel) Danto and Mrs. Harry (Lena) Arden of Los Angeles, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Hyman Riskin Hyman Cecil Riskin, a retired salesman, died Nov. 24 at age 70. Born in Dublin, Ireland, Mr. Riskin moved to Flint with his family in 1920. He was a life-long member of Flint's Congregation Beth Israel, the Jewish War Veterans and the Disabled American Veterans. He is survived by two brothers, Abraham of Southfield and Sidney of Lake Wroth, Fla.; nieces and nephews. Interment Flint. NEWS Refuseniks Hold Hunger Strike New York (JTA) — Women refuseniks in four Soviet cities staged a one-day hunger strike Monday in solidarity with activist Viacheslav (Slava) Ouspen- sky, 19, and his parents, Igor and Inna Ouspensky, the Na- tional Conference on Soviet Jewry reported. The women, members of Jewish Women Against Refusal, issued a statement, which read in part: "We de- mand to put an end to lawlessness and give Slava an exit visa for Israel." The Ouspenskys have been refused since 1979. Jewish Climber Scales Everest Seattle (JTA) — Dr. Geoff Tabin of Chicago recently became the first Jew to climb Mount Everest, the world's highest peak at 29,108 feet. Tabin, 32, has been rock climbing and mountain clim- bing for the past 15 years. This most recent attempt was his third to scale Everest. "I always focused my goal and that was to get to the top of Mount Everest," he said.
